Georgian director’s Oscar-nominated “Tangerines” named the Best European Film
Oscar and Golden Globe nominated film Tangerines by Georgian director Zaza Urushadze has become the winner of another prestigious award.

On January 31, Barcelona hosted the most renowned ceremony, Gaudi Award, where the prizes were given in 22 different categories.

Zaza Urushadze’s film was among the nominees.

Tangerines won the prize in Best European Film category.

Among other nominees were:

Pride: Matthew Warchus
Clouds of Sils Maria: Olivier Assayas
Force Majeure: Ruben Östlund

The director Zaza Urushadze commented on the abovementioned: “I was invited to the ceremony but unfortunately I could not go to Spain. A Spanish film distributor received the award on my behalf.

This is a Film Academy award, very prestigious and important. The best European film is announced every year and only the best movies are awarded. This year, four films were presented to the award. Now I am waiting for my prize to arrive.”

awards in Spain, founded by Catalonian Movie Academy in 2009. The statuette given to the winners as a prize was created according to the works by Antoni Gaudi, a famous Spanish and Catalonian architect.
