Here we present to you an incredible animated footage based on the artworks of Niko Pirosmani, outstanding Georgian primitivist painter. The artist’s some of the most famous paintings such as “Fisherman in red shirt”, “Actress Margarita”, “A janitor” and many others have been brought to life by creating a film of moving artworks. Unfortunately author of this beautiful video that takes you through Tbilisi’s past, is not known yet. The sound accompanied to the film was made by Dima Asaturoff. It is noteworthy that at the end of the video can be heard Boris Pasternak (Famous Russian poet) reading his translation of iconic Georgian poet Nikoloz Baratashvili’s rhyme. Even though, the 19-20th century self taught genius artist died in poverty and earned his living by decorating stores and restaurants , at present his artworks are internationally recognized and valuated at a high price. It should be noted that last year on June 1, Pirosmani’s masterpiece “Arsenal Hill at Night”, was purchased at Christie’s auction house for 1.5 million USD by former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili. The masterpiece, valued for its style and color palette, was donated to Georgia’s Art Museum.
