Georgian director selected among 6 best directors by Festival De Cannes'
Georgian director, Rati Tsiteladze has been selected by Festival De Cannes' Cinéfondation among 6 best directors from more than two hundred and fifty candidates worldwide to participate in the 34th Session of The Residence.

The selection by a jury, presided by a director or a motion-picture celebrity, was based on the quality of his already made work, as well as on the interest of the feature film project in the course of being written. During the six months of his stay in Paris, Rati will be developing his feature film project The Empty House, after which he will present it at such important international festivals as Locarno (Open Doors), Guanajuato Film Festival (GIFF), Rotterdam (Cinemart), and Festival De Cannes.

The Empty House is autobiographical story written by Nino Varsimashvili. The film is set in Georgian capital of Tbilisi during the civil war of the early 90s. Crime, corruption and drugs are raging throughout the country. The Empty House is a true story about the war within a family. The story follows 11 years old girl, Nino, who still plays with her doll, wants to become a writer and has strongly idealized image of her father. Her only dream is to have a complete family. After 7 years of imprisonment, when her father, an authoritative ‘prison spectator’ is released, her dream comes true; finally the family, members of which represent three generations, is complete. But soon things turn out to be different from what she had been expecting and alter the life of her family forever.

Movie was already selected among the best 4 feature film projects at the 64th International Film festival Mannheim-Heidelberg, Germany and is supported by Coordinator of MMP Julek Kedzierski.
