Campaign launched to raise funds for damaged bookstore in Batumi
The huge chunks of snow fell from the roof of a house and damaged the shop ‘Books in Batumi’ On January 4. A part of the building was destroyed and more than a half of the books stored in the basement got wet. The bookstore was planning to set up an educational project in the villages.
Several people expressed their wishes to help their favorite shop. The Facebook page of ‘Books in Batumi Publishing’ is full of supportive messages and some individuals even want to buy the books that got wet.

One of those people who express the desire to help the store is Ani Chkhikvadze. She began a campaign on generosity.com to raise money for the publishing house.
Here is what she says:

‘Bookstore was opened by two bright individuals, Irakli Bakuridze and Mari Korinteli few years ago. This couple put in enormous effort and energy to start the business, demonstrated
entrepreneur enthusiasm that is such a rarity in post-Soviet Georgia, were engaged in educational activity and social activism. Past few years they have worked hard to contribute to the society, work with schools kids and mountainous villages and further advance family business. Now their life’s work is under danger, the two do not have resources to repair the store or rebuild the storage capacity.’

More than 1000 USD has been raised so far. The campaign is still going on.
