New Tpilisi – Renovation project launched to transform the capital of Georgia

A new global project named New Tpilisi has been launched by the Government of Georgia. Within the frames of the project Georgia’s capital Tbilisi will undergo a significant transformation, in particular, the old streets and historic districts will be renovated and more recreation zones will be created for the locals. The project aims to improve the cultural and diverse landscape of the city, boost the economy, develop tourism industry and create comfortable environment both for the city
residents and its tourists.

The first stage of renovation works will include the following streets: Dry Bridge and its nearby area, Aghmashenebeli Avenue , Gudiashvili Square and its nearby area and Gvinis Agmarti (Wine Street).

More than 200 professionals including architects, historians and art critics have been involved along with Government in developing an urban environment plan for Tbilisi. New Tpilisi (the old name of the city) is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
