What will New Year holidays cost you in Georgia’s winter resorts
Georgian winter resorts are preparing for the New Year holidays. As the tour operators inform, the majority of cottages and hotel rooms are already booked in Bakuriani, Gudauri and Svaneti. According to what we were told in several companies, spending New Year holidays (staying in a hotel, festive dinner) in Gudauri and Bakuriani will take from 700 to 1500 Georgian laris per person for a week.

Maia Kopaliani, the manager of Calypso M-TOUR, told Businesspressnews that bookings began as early as in November. She also said currently the biggest demand is on cottages and 90% of them are already booked.

‘As of now, Gudauri is the most popular choice. He majority of bookings accrue to the cottages and almost every one of them is booked for the New Year holidays.

As for the prices, spending New Year’s Eve in the smallest cottage is 600 laris - twice that of a
normal period. The majority of bookings fall at foreigners, because for Georgians the prices are too high’, - Kopaliani says.

The same goes for another company, ‘Discover Georgia’, where they say Georgians are less enthusiastic about spending New Year holidays in winter resorts and most of the bookings fall on foreigners. They also say that Gudauri is the most popular choice so far.

‘In Bakuriani and Gudauri, the majority of bookings are made in family-type hotels, where the cheapest room is 100 laris, twice that of a normal period’, - the representatives of the company say.

Nima Tours say most of the bookings fall at Svaneti, Bakuriani and Gudauri.
