24-year-old Georgian employed at Google
Another Georgian has been hired to work at Google, which is the world’s biggest web search system. 24-year-old Giorgi Megreli, who holds a master’s degree at the Tbilisi State University, is now employed at Google’s London branch.

Giorgi Megreli graduated from the university last year and after eight 45-minute interviews with a Google’s recruiter, questions of technical character and writing software codes, he successfully went on to become Google’s new employee.

“It was a very long and difficult path. Everything began when my friend Giorgi Peikrishvili, who was also interviewed by Google, recommended me to them. Then a recruiter contacted me a long process of interviews began. It was very stressful if we take into consideration that I was working in Estonia back then and working for my master’s degree. So I decided that I needed 2-3 hours every day to practice for these interviews. My friend Nikoloz Gabisonia was helping me. He also works for Google and was much more experienced then. The process itself was not so difficult but it was stressful because it was the first time I aspired to begin working for such a large company. During 8 interviews, 45 minutes each, they asked me technical questions and besides I had to write software codes in Google docs. 10 days after the last interview was finished, I learned that I was hired.”

Giorgi Megreli studied at the Tbilisi Ilia Vekua Physics and Mathematics School and also went to the IT center Mziuri to learn
software programs.

Currently he resides in London together with his wife Ana Khulelidze. As for his future plans, he says he wants to stay in UK for at least another year and then possibly move to another country. As for the company itself, he does not plan to change anything. He says he likes everything at Google – atmosphere, culture, co-workers.
