Nakashidze, Meskhi and Dalakishvili awarded at the Eurasia Film Festival
23 September, 2014
Georgian actors Giorgi Nakashidze, Mikheil Meskhi and a Georgian-born actress Tinatin Dalakishvili were awarded at the Eurasia Film Festival, which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The best actress award went to Tinatin Dalakishvili for her role in Star, about a young woman who longs for extreme plastic surgery in order to become a celebrity, Euronews informs. Tinatin Dalakishvili said it had been a tricky role: “To be honest, in one way it was a difficult role to play, but on
the other hand it was a great experience working with Anna Melikyana, the director. I love her, she is a great person.”
The best actor award went to the four lead actors in the film “Tangerines” (Lembit Ulfsak, Elmo Nüganen, Giorgi Nakashidze and Mikhail Meskhi). Producer Ivo Felt collected the award. The film deals with the idea of trying to understand the mechanisms of war and is set during the conflict between Georgia and Russia.
Israeli film Next To Her has won the top prize. Next To Her is about Rachel, who is bringing up her mentally disabled sister Gabby. The film was directed by Asaf Korman and written by his wife Liron Ben-Shlush, who also stars in the picture. Working so closely together on one project was a bumpy ride, confessed Asaf Korman.
The best director award went to Benedikt Erlingsson for his movie “Of Horses and Men”. The Icelandic comedy drama is a collection of stories about Icelanders’ relationships with horses and each other, Euronews reports.
The film “Adventure” won the film critics award. The movie was filmed in Almata and is a loose interpretation of Dostoyevsky’s White Nights. The director told Euronews that mixing cultures was a fascinating journey.
