Throw Trash in the “Singing” Bin and Make it Sing a “Clean song”
A“singing” garbage bin has recently appeared in Tbilisi. The author of the colorful artwork is Giorgi Gagoshidze, whose works are already decorating Tbilisi’s’ underground walkways and streets. The artist, who is mostly known by the pseudonym Gagosh, is an IT specialist and works in the Public Service Development Agency.

Tbilisi and several other cities of Georgia already boast quite interesting graffiti, yet Gagosh’s art is distinct and does not resemble anything else. In particular,
the artist creates works of art in the streets, on the walls of the buildings or underground walkways by using a variety of techniques. His series of mosaics that decorate Tbilisi stand out among Georgia’s street art with their novelty.

“I moved the bin aside several times, but it was returned to the same place. So then I decided to paint the bin itself.”

“I think Georgia is the right country for street art.”

“I first became interested in street art when I saw my friend doing graffiti in Poland. Since then I gradually began creating my own pieces of art. My paintings are usually aimed at stirring positive emotions in people. But besides mosaics I also make stencil graffiti on social topics such as unemployment, social status, pollution and many other issues. I think Georgia is the right country for street art, since there are many social themes or problems that can inspire the artist and enable him/her to create great pieces of art. I don’t make art for commercial purposes, it is just a way to express myself,” said the artist in an interview with Georgian Journal.

– Your “singing” garbage bin, as you call it, attracted the public’s attention. Tell us why you chose this the trash bin for your art.

– I think it is just another way to call on our citizens not to pollute the environment. Throw trash in the bin and make it sing a “clean song” and as a result, our city will become a bit neater. However, the main reason why I decided to paint the bin was that it was placed in front of a mosaic I drew. I moved it aside several times, but it was returned to the same place. So then I decided to paint the bin itself.
