'Tangerines' Director's New Film 'Monk' Gets Nabbed by Picture Tree International
Georgian director Zaza Urushadze, whose film Tangerines was shortlisted both for the Oscars and Golden Globe in 2015, has been featured at The Hollywood Reporter, popular American media brand focusing on the Hollywood motion picture, television, entertainment industries, fashion, etc. The article uncovers recognized director’s new film Monk and its latest success.

" Zaza Urushadze's last film 'Tangerines' was shortlisted for both the Oscars and Golden Globes in 2015.

Berlin-based world sales company Picture Tree International (PTI) has picked up
international rights to Georgian director Zaza Urushadze's new film Monk.

Monk tells the story of Giorgi, a former film director whose new life as a priest in a small mountain village starts to unravel when he meets the local music teacher Lily.

It is Urushadze's first film since making the shortlist for the Oscars and Golden Globes in 2015 with his internationally acclaimed portrait of life in a war zone, Tangerines.

Buyers will get a first look at a promo of Monk Friday at a work-in-progress session at the Warsaw IFF, the same festival where Tangerines was first revealed in 2013.

Like Tangerines, which explored the human consequences of civil war, Monk is produced by Ivo Felt of Estonia-based Allfilm and Zaza Urushadze's company Cinema24, with the support of the Estonian Film Institute and the Georgian Film Center.

The film was shot in Georgia over the summer with a cast that includes Dmitri Tatishvili, Joseph Khvedelidze and Sophia Sebiskveradze. It is due for delivery early next year.

“It’s an absorbing, fascinating story with great international appeal, and we are thrilled to work with this exceptional director,” said Andreas Rothbauer, founder and managing director for PTI", - The Hollywood Reporter reads.
