Georgian artist’s work “The Nun” sold at Sotheby’s auction

25-year-old Georgian artist Levan Songulashvili’s work was sold at Sotheby’s auction. The painting called ‘The Nun’ was purchased by a collector from New York, but it is still unknown what amount of money he paid.

The auction of New York Art Academy called Take Home a Nude took place at Sotheby’s auction house on October 24 and was attended by famous Hollywood stars, including Brook Shields and Naomi Watts.

This is not the first time when the young Georgian artist’s work is sold at Sotheby’s. In 2015 his ‘Jellyfish’ was also purchased by a collector from New York. Levan Songulashvili painted it when he was 22 years old and living in Tbilisi.

Songulashvili graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2013 and is now working on his Master Degree at New York Academy. His works have been exhibited at various places in New York. Levan Songulashvili is the first Georgian who received a prestigious award from New York Academy of Arts.
