In Tbilisi this week: Top cultural and entertaining events
Every week Tbilisi hosts a plenty of cultural and entertaining events for both locals as well as foreigners to enjoy. Besides going to restaurants, enjoying local food and wandering throughout the streets one can find many options to spend a day interestingly in a pleasant environment. The selection is quite varied, starting from iconic movie screenings to live jazz music performances and concerts.

Here are top free cultural activities for this week:

January 9

DIVExFabrika Screenings: Some like it hot

DIVExFabrika, a multicultural space located in a new type of multifunctional hostel Fabrika with an unusual yet comfortable environment, organizes film screenings for movie lovers. The film screening starts at 9 pm and lasts until 12 am. Anyone is welcome to attend the screening for free, yet one can enjoy oneself with beer of mulled wine for affordable prices as well. In addition, it is a good opportunity to meet new cool people, make some foreign or local friends.

Jam Session at Movement Theatre

If you are a big fan of jazz or simply want to listen to tasteful live music, then definitely pay a visit to mystical Movement Theatre and enjoy incredible performance by city’s most outstanding musicians for free. Jam Session starts at 9 pm and lasts till 12 am. Reso Kiknadze Quintet and few young jazzmen will bring unique melodies and incredible sensation to the guests. Moreover, attendants who play some instrument or sing are more than welcome to join the band and perform along, that is what Jam Session means.

Exhibition of Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikov’s artworks

Georgian National Museum Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery invites you to the exhibition of Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikov’s(a prominent representative of XX century’s Georgian art )artworks, which is dedicated to the 125 years anniversary since the birth of the author and 50 years since he passed away. The opening event will take place on January 10, 2017 at 6 pm- 8pm. The exhibition will last until February 25, 2017.

ZuraRamishvili Trio at Jazz Cafe Singer

Another must visit place for jazz lovers is Jazz Cafe Singer located in old part of the city near Shardeni Street. Similarly to Movement Theatre, Singer offers weekly events and live performances of the city’s leading musicians and bands. On January 12 from 9
pm to 12 pm the venue presents an amazing performance by famous ZuraRamishvili trio. A glass of wine and good music will definitely serve as a good relaxation and put everything in order after exhausting working day.

Really Really Free Market @Generator 9.8

Generator 9.8 - the first non-profit and free space and social bar in Georgia, offers a set of events starting from January 9 with an exhibition  followed by a live concert by Georgian singers on January 11 and jazz improvisation project on January 12 ending up with Free Market on January 15. The latter one offers Free Market without money, giving you an opportunity to exchange items with one another as well as to make new friends.
