Georgian illustrator and filmmaker Ana Chubinidze’s short animation The Pocket Man has claimed yet another international award. The Pocket Man was named Best Animated Film at the Rimouski Film Carrousel Festival.

The animation was awarded at the Russian festival "Crook." According to the judges "the film reminds us that age does not matter in true friendship”.

The animation is about a small man named Edgar who lives in an old suitcase. One day an elderly blind man accidentally crashes into the suitcase, opening it. They quickly become friends, and Edgar soon finds a new home in the blind man’s pocket, becoming his guide. With music, the pocket man helps the blind man walk and see things in the street.

"Pocket Man" has been presented at 88 international film festivals up to now. It was named Best Animation Film at Sharjah International Children's Film Festival.

Georgian animation counts almost 100 years of experience, although collapse of the Soviet Union has temporarily put the industry on a long halt. Now the renaissance of Georgian cinema and animation has begun, and Ana Chubinidze, a young book illustrator, can be considered one of the pioneers in this field.
