Unprecedented growth of tourism continues in Georgia

In 2017, 7,554,936 international travelers visited Georgia, which is 1,194,433 more compared to the same period of the previous year and + 18.8% increase in growth, - Head of the National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze stated.

According to Chogovadze, the main expectation in 2018 is more than 8 million international travelers and more than $ 3 billion in income from tourism.

"Unprecedented growth of tourism continues in Georgia. In 2017,
7,554,936 international travelers visited Georgia. In comparison with the previous year, this figure has been enhanced by nearly 1 200 000 people. There is also a huge increase in revenue," said Giorgi Chogovadze.

The largest number of visitors arrived from Armenia - 1,718,016 (+ 14.8%), 1,694,998 (+ 11.2%) from Azerbaijan, 1,392,610 (+34.1%) - from Russia, 1,246,745 (-0.8%) - from Turkey, 322,938 (+ 118.3%) - from Iran.

Positive trend has been maintained from the EU countries as well. The number of arrivals in Georgia increased in January-December from the United Kingdom + 39.9%, Netherlands + 31.1%, Spain + 29.9%, France + 29.6% and Germany + 25.7%.
