The RAW WINE festival annually gathers some of the best natural wine producers in the world, with this year’s event featuring more than 150 winemakers.

The wines of small Georgian growers were presented on a communal table with the support of National Wine Agency of Georgia.

The Georgian wineries that were presented at the UK festival were as follows: Gotsa Family Wines, Babaneuris Marani, Natenadze’s Wine Cellar, Chateau Khashmi, Winery Ethno, Winery Velino, Nikalas Marani, Winery Tibaani.

"It was the very first exhibition abroad where I presented wine produced by my company. It was quite exciting experience for me, since many experts, representatives of press, importers, and distributors were present at the exhibition.

While French and Italian wines are the leaders on British market, we should introduce our country and Georgian wine to the international consumers in order to attract their interest. I think we managed to present Georgian natural wine at best; many people gathered around Georgian stand and expressed their interest.

Additionally, we exchanged our contact details with many experienced people in this industry, and now we waiting for their response.

By doing Georgian business we are increasing awareness about our small country throughout the world", - Says Beka Jimsheladze, one of the participants of the exhibition and founder of the Georgian wine company Vellino.

Similarly to previous years, Georgian wine has drawn great interest and received praise from the visitors of the exhibition this year. The British market is very important for Georgian wine, as it is one of the largest importers and consumers of wine in the world.
Georgian wine has drawn great interest

Georgia has been participating in the RAW WINE fair since 2012. It is the huge opportunity for the representatives of wine industry to find the potential importers and popularize Georgian Kvevri wine.

"While a seemingly new trend, orange wine is ancient – as the country of Georgia, with its claim to 8000 vintages, can attest. Believed to be the birthplace of wine, this tiny country in the foothills of the Caucasus, wedged between Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia, has been making wine in the same way for thousands of years using large clay pots buried deep underground. Wine is a huge part of daily life there and most people know someone who grows grapes and makes wine at home.

While there are of course regional differences in winemaking techniques used across the country, what they don’t do is use a completely different vinification system for whites compared to reds. Instead their whites are made using the whole berry rather than just the run-off juice, since the grape skins, pips and stems impart all sorts of antioxidants, oils, tannins (and of course pigment), that help protect the young, fermenting juice from oxidation", - RAW WINE website reports about Georgian wine.
