Wizz Air launches regular flights to Spain, France, Czech, Italy and Greece

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has performed first Kutaisi-Athens-Kutaisi flight from Kutaisi International Airport. According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the flight was carried out by Wizz Air's A 320-type aircraft. Passengers of the first flight were gifted with Georgian wine, Borjomi, Sarajishvili cognac and sweets.

The airline is starting regular flights to Spain, France, Czech, Italy and Greece. Wizz Air will
also increase the flight frequency from Kutaisi to Berlin and Dortmund.

Wizz Air’s first Kutaisi flight took off in 2012. During the 6-year successful activity in Georgia, the air company invested $202 million and created over 250 indirect jobs in the country.

In March of 2018, Wizz Air launched flights in Kutaisi- Riga and Kutaisi-Wroclaw directions.

From the summer of 2018, the air company will perform direct flights between Georgia and Romania. Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will start performing Bucharest-Kutaisi flight from July 3. Direct Vienna-Kutaisi flight will be launched from November 15 of the current year. The low-cost airline will carry out flights in 20 directions of 14 European countries from Kutaisi International Airport.

Kutaisi airport served over 223,656 Wizz Air passengers in 2017 and the number of its passengers during the four months of 2018 was 111,810 - a 14 percent increase over the same period last year.

According to Ketevan Aleksidze, director of "Georgian Airports Association", after the construction of a new terminal is completed the Kutaisi International Airport will be able to serve three times more passengers (1,000-1100 passengers) per hour than it serves currently.
