IliaUni Business Review based its report on the research of Skytrax, an international air-industry research and consulting organization founded in 1989; it conducts market researches for 215 air-companies in 75 airports. Skytrax ratings are acknowledged as the most reputable indicators in air-industry.

Classification of air-companies made by Skytrax represents a quality assessment system of service and products performed by companies based

on which certain number of stars are granted to companies.

Quality assessment includes more than 800 criteria including both product and service performance quality.

According to IliaUni Business Review,  at Georgian markets we have one 1-star air-company, two 2-star, eight 3-star  and four 4-star air-companies, while only one 5-star air-company takes flights in Georgia and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus region.

Georgia and Azerbaijan area leaders too on direction of 4-star air-companies, for four 4-start air-companies operate at Georgiana and Azeri markets. In Armenia only two 4-star air-companies take flights.

Georgia is a leader from the point of view of  3-star air-companies. Eight 3-star companies fly in Georgia. Azerbaijan is a runner up as seven 3-star air-companies operate at Azeri market. Azeri figure by one exceeds the similar companies’ number flying in Armenia. Out of 2-star companies two fly in Georgia and two in Armenia while there is a zero of such companies at Azeri Market. Two 5-star air-companies including Qatar Airway, acknowledged as the world’s best company as well as Turkish Airlines, rated as the best air-company in Europe, are performing service to passengers in Georgia. Out of 4-star air-companies operating globe over Turkish Airways, Lufthansa, Austrian Airways, KLM, and Chinese Airways do operate at Georgian market.

The list of 3-star air-companies flying in Georgia is made by British BMI, Air Baltics, Poland Airways, Azerbaijan Airlines, Air Astana, Sibir and Czech Airways. However the latter leaves Georgian market starting this June. Turkish Pegasus and Ukrainian Airways [Aeroswit] are the two-star companies operating in Georgia.  Georgia is leader in Caucasus from service point of view performed to passengers for more high-rated air-companies fly in the country. It goes ahead Azerbaijan by one 3-star and two 2-star air-companies.

However, Georgian air-companies did not happen to be in the rating list at all while Armenian and Azeri companies are enlisted in the rating: Azerbaijan Airlines got 3 stars and Armenia Armavia -2 stars.

Rating of air-companies transporting passengers from Georgia is above average and exceeds 80%. Out of 3 best air-companies of Europe two take flights in Georgia that is a high indicator.  All in all 20 air-companies operate at Georgian market at the moment including one Georgian company Airzena. Few new companies are supposed to enter Georgian market. The first one is Alitalia that is expected to increase the quality indicator.
