Traditional Spring Expo 2013 at Radisson
International Women’s Association Georgia (IWAG) held the Spring Expo 2013 at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel on Sunday, March 17th, from 10.00am to 6.00 pm. The Proceeds from this event will support various charity projects of IWAG.
On March 17, IWAG will present Top Ten private high schools in Georgia, diverse Georgian artisans, various Georgian and international businesses and International ladies’ choir. Shopping, face painting, live music, display of variety of plants and flowers, tasting gourmet lunch served by Radisson’s
chef and taking pictures in retro-style costumes were several fun activities that were offered to create a day full of fun and excitement.
In 2012-2013, IWAG has financed numerous individual and group projects. It has met the cost of leukemia treatments, paid for various medications, and funded a range of surgeries for desperately poor people.
The International Women’s Association Georgia is a charitable, non- profit, non-governmental organization and part of the worldwide network of international Women’s Association; it mainly consists of international diplomats or their spouses who serve as volunteers. The organization strives to enhance its members’ understanding of Georgia, which makes life easier for expatriates. Its main mission is helping needy women, children and elderly in Georgia.
Gvantsa Zhuruli, Vice President of IWAG commented for us: “This year, the novelty is that we have invited Zura Shevardnadze, a botanist and we have represented a wide range of flowers, practically, a garden here in Radisson Hotel. Another piece of news is that we have for the first time different sorts of fish and small kids have like them particularly. Besides, a photo studio has been arranged where youngsters as well as adults have a chance to take a snapshot, attired in either national or foreign costumes in a retro style. The photos will be black and white and remain as pleasant memories of this day. This is a fund-raising and a special committee within IWAG will select the most vulnerable among applicants and the money will be directed towards them. Our focus groups are mainly women, kids and elderly.“
The Spring Expo ended festively, leaving everybody contented. It was an event where you could find a good gift to present it to women – a wide range of jewels as well as other utensils, icons, handmade felt bags, etc. Several embassies, as well as representatives from various cultural and business circles took part. The German ambassador’s spouse presented to the audience national German pastry, baked by her. IWAG organizes such expos twice a year. Spring Expo was closed for one year, taking a leave only until next winter, i.e. until traditional Winter Expo at Sheraton.
