Georgia becoming ITB Berlin host country in 2022
According to the Tourism Administration, Georgia has received official confirmation from ITB Berlin, Germany's national tourism exhibition, that in 2022 Georgia will be the host country of ITB Berlin the largest exhibition market in the tourism industry worldwide.

More than 200 thousand visitors attend ITB Berlin from more than 180 countries annually. ITB Berlin has been at the center of the world's attention every year. During three days more than 5 thousand journalists cover the event. The fact that Georgia has
won among several countries and has gained the host country status at the world's largest and the most influential exhibition, denotes a new era for the country's tourism industry. It is the most important thing that can happen to any country's tourism development.

Georgia will gain access to more than 1 billion people within the framework of this victory. Besides Georgia will receive 37 million euros worth PR and marketing support from the exhibition organizers.

"The host country status is a signal for the whole world that Georgia is one of the best tourist countries. This exhibition sends a message that Georgia is interesting, new, diverse, attractive and rapidly growing tourist destination. From 2007, ITB Berlin was hosted by 15 countries, including India, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Indonesia, Malaysia and etc. These are the countries that have the largest share of the tourism market worldwide. Previous years of experience show that after becoming an ITB Berlin host country, the number of international visitors increased by 130%. This is another proof that this event will have a huge impact on the future development of Georgia's tourism industry."- The Department of
Tourism claims.

More importantly before gaining a host country status, Georgia had to undergo very serious competition stages between world-renowned tourism destinations.

"Several countries around the world participated in the competition. Before making such a serious decision, Georgia was inspected thoroughly. In 2019 ITB Berlin executives visited Georgia for evaluating tourism products, infrastructure, and hotels. Particular importance was given to the fact that the Government of Georgia is proactive in developing tourism and that the tourism industry is a top priority for them. It is noteworthy that the support of Berlin's government agencies was crucial for making the decision, which denotes that this fact is important not only for tourism development but it proves once more again that there is close cooperation between Georgia and Germany. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and the head of the National Tourism Administration will visit Georgia. Withing the exhibition framework Georgia will officially gain the host country status."- The Department of Tourism reports.
