“Pearl of Georgia” To Be Recorded
Bravo Records together with Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia has launched unique project “The Pearls of Georgia.” They will produce the album uniting opera arias performed by famous Georgian opera singers who perform abroad. Paata Burchuladze, Nino Surguladze, Anita Rachvelishvili, Giorgi Gagnidze, Zurab Sotkilava, Tamriko Javakhishvili (Tamar Iveri), Makvala Kasrashvili and many other Georgian opera singers’ voices will be recorded under the direction of famous Italian concert master Gianluca Marciano. Arias from operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo
Puccini, Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Gioachino Rossini, Zakaria Paliashvili and other great composers will be recorded.
The author of the idea is Lela Mchedlidze, the main concertmaster of Tbilisi Opera Symphonic Orchestra.
At the press conference at the Bravo Records recording studio, attended by the president of Bravo Records Zaza Shengelia, Minister of Culture Guram Odisharia, director of the department of events and regional coordination Marina Beridze, opera singers Lado Ataneli, Tea Demurishvili and Mzia Nioradze, they announced the birth of the idea of the album “The Pearls of Georgia”.
Guram Odisharia: “I’m honored to be here today. This is a unique project; for those foreigners who come to Georgia and find Georgian nature and its historical monuments amazing, this album will be a special gift. When the satellite moves in the space, we can say that we are the nation of Chakrulo (Georgian folk song that along with two other musical masterpieces is carried embedded in an American spacecraft beyond the solar system). This project will have the same function and meaning. It will be like a message to the planet.”
Badri Bagration-Gruzinski, deputy Minister of Culture and coordinator of the project: “This is the fourth project of the Ministry of Culture after the albums of ‘Shin’, ‘Eldrine’, Nani Bregvadze; I am happy that I am involved in this project.”
Lado Ataneli: “I am very glad and welcome this project. I feel very proud when in the cabin of Georgian airways plane I see books and magazines about Georgia with beautiful pictures and views of the country: landscapes, Georgian wine and so forth. It will be very good if this album will be added to this introductory magazine. This album will promote Georgian opera stars and they will be visiting cards of the country like the Sukhishvili’s and other big ensembles of Georgia. I thank the organizers and people who participate in this project. Bravo, bravo, bravo!”
Gianluca Marciano will participate in the project during the recording. Mr. Marciano joined press conference online; he greeted participants with Georgian “Gamarjoba”. He said: “This project is absolutely fantastic because opera needs to be promoted. Georgian artists show high standard in the world. Georgia has a great opera house with great history and all that together should be presented and promoted throughout the whole world. It is a great project and we are lucky to have a dream team – all great singers are Georgians: Lado, two Ninos, Tamar Iveri and Paata Burchuladze, who is impossible to forget. It’s like Brazilian soccer team with Pele.”
Presentation of the album is planned on the opening day of Tbilisi Opera House that is under reconstruction right now. Georgian opera singers will perform live all the areas that will be recorded for the album. Their performance will be accompanied by Tbilisi Symphonic Orchestra, under direction of renowned conductor Gianluca Marciano.
