The 17th Tbilisi Jazz Festival Begins
On October 22-27th, the 17th Tbilisi Jazz Festival will take place. This is the largest-scale musical event in Georgia in which world-class musicians traditionally participate. It is worth mentioning that besides the internationally acclaimed headlining bands, young Georgian musicians participate the festival as well. Among them are pianist Giorgi Mikadze, who will be playing together with guitarist David Fiuczynski and pianist Beka Gochiashvili, who will visit the festival as part of the Euro Tour with Stanley Clarke Band. Another Georgian musician
participating is a drummer Giorgi Melikishvili (George Mel) who after a 20-year absence, who will come specifically for Tbilisi Jazz Festival from New York together with his quartet.
For the first time, Tbilisi Concert Hall’s lobby will host an exposition of Georgian painter Davit Mchedlishvili, entitled All That Jazz. The Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery will provide a room to host an exhibition of unique works by the French photographer Christian Rose. Among his photographs, one can find musicians such as Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Bob Marley, Charles Mingus, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and others.
The Tbilisi Jazz Festival is presented by the Georgian Ministry of Culture and Monuments’ Protection. It is supported by Tbilisi City Hall and the Embassy of the State of Israel to Georgia. The event is eagerly anticipated each year by all of Georgia, along with foreigners who reside here, and those who come specially for the occasion. This year’s lineup is as follows:

October 24 – Anat Cohen Quartet/George Mel Quartet – Tbilisi Event Hall
October 25- DAVID FIUCZYNSKI’S Planet MicroJam featuring Giorgi Mikadze – Tbilisi Event Hall
October 26 - ANDY SHEPPARD QUARTET/ ROY AYERS – Tbilisi Concert Hall
October 27 – Stanley Clarke Band – Tbilisi Concert Hall
