Georgian movies awarded at international film festivals
Georgian cinema is reaching new heights and gaining international success at many film festivals. Two new Georgian films House of Others directed by Rusudan Glurjidze and When the Earth Seems to Be Light by Tamuna Karumidze, Salome Machaidze and David Meskhi, have been selected as favorite films of juries at two major international festivals. Jury Award winner at the Antalya International Film Festival.The film is about two families that manage to survive the brief but devastating war. They start living in the houses that were swiftly abandoned by others. But they find it difficult to start a new and peaceful life as the hardest battle is yet to be fought. The Antalya International Film Festival is the most important and large-scale cinema event in Turkey, held since 1963.

As for the second film, When the Earth Seems to Be Light, it won the Special Jury Award at the film festival DocsMX in the section Around the Cities. The documentary features a story of young people: skaters, artists and musicians living in a post-soviet Georgia. It is noteworthy that Georgian street artist Mishiko Sulakauri known under the nickname LAMB plays one of the skaters in the movie. DocsMX is one of the major documentary film festivals. This year, more than 90 documentaries were screened in different sections at the 11th DocsMX held in Mexico.
