Georgian artist who paints with eye pencil
The Vernisage Gallery hosted the exhibition of a young Georgian artist named Mariam Giorgobiani. At her third personal exhibition Giorgobiani exhibited 54 works, the majority of which are graphic and one is a canvas. The graphic works mainly depict the sights of the world´s big cities, the characters of various fictional literary works and old Tbilisi scenes.

She says she uses oil paints, red chalk, coal, flourish to make her works, but the most unusual material she uses is eye

"For all these years, these graphic works were collected into one collection. This is the first time I put them in frames and exhibited at the Vernisage, for which I am very happy. These works are made by the inspiration of my childhood emotions and impressions that happened 10-15 years ago and there are also new works.

The works presented here mainly depict my attitude towards films and fiction.

There are a lot of my favorite characters in these works, the stories created according to literary works and the architecture of Tbilisi, as well as various cities of the world” - the young artist says.

The exhibition was visited by a painter, rector of the Academy of Arts, Gia Gugushvili, who called Mariam Giorgobiani a "warm artist":

"I have been familiar with Mariam’s works since she was a child, and I have seen her paintings earlier. I can say that she has become a kind of a warm artist. She is able to present incredibly beautiful works in the most difficult urban situations. I'm very excited," Gugushvili says.

The exhibition lasted for three days and ended on July 5.
