Georgian director’s My Happy Family already available on Netflix
Georgia’s latest and one of the most successful Georgian films My Happy Family is already available on Netflix. From now on movie lovers and film enthusiasts around world are able to watch Georgian film by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross. The film was premiered on Netflix on December 1st, yet earlier in February it was already made public that the famous channel purchased the rights on its distribution. It means that profound Georgian film is available for the audience in
130 countries. Movie lovers from different countries have already watched My Happy Family and expressed their impressions and positive feedback on the official Facebook page of the film.

The film uncovers the story of a middle-aged wife and mother who decides to pack up and leave her family on the eve of her 52nd birthday. Manana, the lead character twigs that after 25 years as a devoted wife and mother, it's her time to shine, and she declares her intentions to shake things up and get her own apartment.

Merab Ninidze and Ia Shugliashvili

The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and was listed in the best films at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival. Additionally My Happy Family competed at Sydney Film Festival as well.

The movie claimed a number of international awards. Ia Shugliashvili who plays the lead character, received prize for the Best Performance at Transylvania International Film Festival, Romania. Ia Shugliashvili also received “Best Female Actress Award" for "My Happy Family" by Nana & Simon at the Eurasia International Film Festival. 28.07.2017. The ensemble of the film succeeded at Odessa International Film by obtaining the award for “Best Acting." The award for the "Best Directing" was also given to the directors of "My Happy Family". GoEast Film Festival is another prestigious festival where Nana and Simon were granted Best Directing Award.

Merab Ninidze

The film triumphed at European Film Festival Lecce in Italy and received the main award, the "Golden Olive Tree" for the best film. The Film also received two more awards for the best camera and the FIPRESCI award!Georgian filmmakers Nana and Simon’s My Happy Family won the Firebird Award in the Young Cinema Competition of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).

The Cast of the film is as follows: Merab Ninidze, Nana Ekvtimishvili, Simon Gross, Giorgi Khurtsilava, Ia Shugliashvili, Tsisia Qumsishvili, Berta Khapava, Mariam Bokeria, Giorgi Tabidze, Dimitri Oragvelidze, Goven Cheishvili.

Merab Ninidze is also one of the principal characters who played his role the film’s success.This year the actor competed for the title of the Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for starring in the drama Jupiter's Moon by Hungarian director Kornel Mundruczo. Merab Ninidze became popular for his first role in Repentance (Monanieba) about Soviet Union’s cruelty by director Tengiz Abuladze. The young actor played the role of a member of an authoritarian ruler's family in the 1984 drama.
