Tbilisi hosts largest photo festival Kolga

The 17th edition of Kolga Tbilisi Award, the large-scale and the most prestigious photo contest in Georgia, has kicked off. The main goal of the Award is to link international photography to Georgia and to local photography.

Georgia’s capital Tbilisi hosts various international and local exhibitions featuring both historically significant images and photographic works depicting various positions in contemporary photography within the framework of Kolga Tbilisi Photo week.

Kolga Tbilisi Photo week opened on
May 4 and will last till May 11. It hosts 18 international, local, collective and individual exhibitions, workshops, discussions, lectures, book presentations, meetings along with foreign photographers and portfolio reviews.

This year, the photo contest was announced in the following nominations: Documentary Photo series, Reportage, Conceptual Photo Project, One Shot, Mobile Photo Series and Mobile One Shot.

The international photo contest "Kolga" has been held successfully for 17 years already.

The KOLGA AWARD prize fund amounts to 7 000 USD. The sum is equally divided between the winners in the first four categories. The winners of these categories receive1500 USD each. As for the Mobile Photo category (with sub-nominations: One Shot and Mobile Photo Series) the winners are given 500 USD each.

Moreover, cash prize Kolga Newcomer Photo Award is handed over to the young photographer under the age of 25, whose photo series are selected among the photo projects shortlisted in the following categories: : Documentary Photo series, Reportage and Conceptual Photo Project. The winner will be awarded € 500.
The winning projects will be exhibited at GeoArt Gallery in Berlin on June 1.

Kolga Tbilisi 2017

This year, with the joint support of TBC Bank and photo agency Prospect, special prize – internship in Milan, at international photo agency Prospect - was established for the Georgian photographers. This prize is given to Georgian photographer who are chosen by the representatives of the photo agency among the photo projects shortlisted in the following categories: Documentary Photo series, Reportage, Conceptual Photo Project and Mobile Photo Series.
