Renowned Georgian artist Zurab Nizharadze’s artworks on display at National Gallery
Georgian National Museum presents renowned Georgian artist Zurab Nizharadze's retrospective exhibition "Zurab Nizharadze 90" at D. Shevardnadze National Gallery, located at 11 Shota Rustaveli Ave. Tbilisi, Georgia.

The artworks will be on display till May 20. The exposition showcases paintings and graphic works from collections of GNM Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine arts and GNM Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, as w ell as from the private collections.

The exhibition aims to present each stage
of Zurab Nizharadze's artistic development and  to unveil all details and features of each stage to the public. The exposition serves as a reminder for the one part of society, while introduces art of the second half of the 20th century to the younger generation.

Zurab Nizharadze was nicknamed Pico by his friends - as a linkage to Picasso, mostly because of his special artistic viewpoint, creative freedom and endeavor to blue color. He is a representative of the multi-faceted generation of 50s artists. The generation, which has undergone a severe childhood due to Soviet repressions and the Second World War, gave birth to the important cultural processes in the late 50s.

Among the artists of his generation Zurab Nizharadze's art is one of the most distinguished and is characterized by a variety of genres, themes and techniques. During his long creative work, the artist is endlessly seeking for new inspirations.

At the beginning of his creative work, inspired by poetry, artist created paintings full of lyricism. Then in the period of 60-70s' his art became more concrete and refined, distinguished by the diversity of portraits.
