Stone Age Georgia – one of the sections in the Museum

Georgian National Museum is well-known for the special artifacts and masterpieces kept in its galleries. The most famous artifact preserved at National Museum is Zezva and Mzia - the oldest evidence of humans discovered outside of Africa, dating back 1.8 million years. The sculptures of the first Europeans - Zezva and Mzia are preserved at Dmanisi Museum-Reserve.

In 1990s, a sensational discovery was made in Georgia - male and female bones, whose age amounted to at least 1.8 million years. The scientists quickly gave these ancient humans their names, Zezva and Mzia, and the title, Homo Georgicus. Besides, they proved that these are the oldest representatives of Human species after the ones that were discovered in Africa.

If you want to get closer to the science, visit the Dmanisi Museum-Reserve, 85 km to the southwest of Tbilisi - a unique place featuring stunning discoveries that are rewriting human history and transforming our view of human evolution.
