“Welcome to Georgia – the Musical” - Play introducing Georgia to foreigners

It is not a secret that lots of tourists visit Georgia to explore its traditions, nature, cultures, etc. Therefore, newly initiated project – “Welcome to Georgia – the Musical”, seems quite attractive to tourists. The project enables the spectators to explore the country through musical and choreographic performances. Currently the project offers one play, a romantic comedy that tells the love story of a French girl and a Georgian boy. The action takes place in Kakheti, Georgia’s eastern region. Giorgi, who
was studying the faculty of Winery in France, falls in love with French girl and invites her to Georgia. They arrive to the country and the story unveils…

Performance lasts for 90 minutes and includes up-to 15 musical and dancing performances. Most of the conversations are in English, the ones in Georgian are accompanied with subtitles, so that foreign spectators can understand everything.

According to the producer of the project, Natia Amiridze, the idea was funded by the private entities, though, later on it was also maintained by the “Check-in Georgia” and some of the plays were held within the frames of this project. First play debuted on February 12, 13 and 14 and was attended by the representatives of Embassies, international organizations, state agencies, tourist companies, hotels, etc. Performances are staged at the Theater of Music and Drama by 18 professional actors.

The performances are intended for everyone, yet the target audience is mainly tourists, travelers, business and corporate visitors, expats and also Georgians who have foreign guests and would like to introduce Georgian culture, traditions and customs to foreigners within 90 minutes.

“Performance is a romantic musical comedy, full of emotional moments, giving insight into Georgian culture and customs such as “Supra”, Georgian feast table, wine, hospitality, etc... The upcoming play will take place on June15, 22, and 29. As for the new season of performances, it starts in September.
