Visit an exhibition of Italian masterpieces in Georgia

From May 25 Georgian National Museum hosts the masterpieces from the Royal Library of Turin. The Royal Library preserves unique collections of drawings. The King Carlo Albert of Sardinia obtained works belonging to Giovanni Volpato in order to enrich the museum collection. Giovanni Volpato was an Italian engraver. He was dealing in antiquities and masterpieces. Volpato’s collections contained Italian and foreign works, including Leonardo da Vinci's unique series.

The exhibition “Geniuses of Renaissance” is implemented in
the Georgian Governmental project Check in Georgia. From 2016 with the support of Georgian government, project, Check in Georgia” was created. It covers series of cultural and sports events that will be held in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia. The exhibition is supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and program "VivereALL'Italiana" from Italy and Ministry of Culture and Sport of Georgia, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Georgian National Tourism Administration.

“Geniuses of Renaissance” is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Establishment of First Democratic Republic. On May 26 one century ago Noe Jordania the chair of Presidium of the National Council of Georgia declared Democratic Republic of Georgia. On July 24, 1918, he became Head of the Government of Georgia.

The exhibition will last till August 26 at Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery, Shota Rustaveli Ave. 11, Tbilisi, Georgia. Apart from Leonardo da Vinci's works, the Gallery exhibits masterpieces of Raphael, Botticelli, Vasari etc. If you are in Georgia, do not miss the chance to visit the Gallery and share Italian art for a symbolic price.
