Bus stops in Georgia assigned the status of Cultural Heritage Monument
Bus stops in the Municipalities of Khashuri and Mtskheta which were built in the 1970’s have recently been assigned the status of Cultural Heritage Monument. The order was issued by the General Director of the Georgian Cultural Heritage Protection National Agency. The status serves to protect the most valuable and significant cultural and historical monuments in Georgia.

The bus stops are located in the villages of Tezeri, in the Khashuri Municipality and Patara Kanda in the Mtskheta Municipality. Khashuri is located in the central part of Georgia, close to Surami, a popular resort town in eastern Georgia. Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, and is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mtskheta was capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD.

It was in 2008, by Order of the President of Georgia, that the organization for the protection of monuments the Georgian Cultural Heritage Protection National Agency was established. Its focus is on the identification and preservation of monuments and archeological sites and the promotion and furtherance of research into the cultural heritage of Georgia.
