A dance with daggers performed by the Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet
13 September, 2018
The Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet perform the dance called Khanjluri, or a dance with daggers. There are several types of this Georgian dance. One of the most spectacular is when dancers perform with small daggers. Every dancer has a certain number of daggers and they throw them intending them to pierce the floor. They throw these daggers while performing tricks and dancing. So they must be very skillful with their dagger throwing as moving and throwing at the same time takes
practice and makes it harder to lodge them in the floor.

The current dance is slightly different from the old dance. The music is also different and more up to date.

The current dance used to be performed in Georgia as well as in other countries. It has always drawn praise and applause from the audience.
