Tbilisoba 2018 to be celebrated in Moscow

Tbilisoba is an annual festival held on the last weekend of October but this year it takes place on the first weekend of October. The reason for that is presidential election that is due on the 28th of October.

This year Tbilisoba will be held in Moscow as well. The date is the same for both of the festivals – in Tbilisi it takes place on the 6th and 7th of October and
in Moscow on the 6th.

Tbilisoba in Moscow is the official title of the event and is organized by Tamta Pulariani, Russian citizen with the Georgian heritage. It will be the eighth Tbilisoba in Moscow.

The festival will be hold in the Moscow Hermitage Park. The partners are Culture department of Moscow and Askaneli Brothers.

Organizers will offer guests to stand in Satsnakheli and make wine (In Georgia, in the old times, men used to put grapes in Satsnakheli and press it with their legs), also they will teach how to make churchkhela. Georgian folk dances will be performed as well.

Tamta Pulariani says that several Georgian singers will perform at the event – Tornike Kvitatiani, Achi Purtseladze, Giorgi Meliqishvili, Eter Beriashvili, Teimuraz and Eliza Bujgua, bitboxer Vakhtang Kalandadze and others.

It will be available to watch the Georgian films, including two documentaries, recorded by the Russian students. One of them is about Svaneti titled as “Who is Svani here”, another one is about Georgia called “When will Nino come back”.

Tamta says that films by Gela Babluani and Tamar Khuchvani will also be available. A lecture of the Georgian language is planned as well and the lecturer is professor of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Lia Bashaleishvili.

Works by the Georgian designers will also be represented at the event.

Official website of the Moscow City Hall has announced about Tbilisoba. The article says that citizens will be able to get to know Tbilisi without leaving Moscow. Georgian cuisine, culture, history, souvenirs, wine and many others will be represented at the event.
