Aka Morchiladze

Georgian writers and the representatives of the government are attending this very important event. Aka Morchiladze, famous Georgian writer gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the fair. He said that Georgia has one of the oldest history and culture which is not available for many people around the world. Although the country has faced all kinds of hardships, it somehow made it to exist until the present day.

He emphasized the two major treasures of Georgian culture: literature and the Georgian alphabet. The history of Georgian literature counts more than 1500 years under its belt. Georgia has a great advantage to have its own alphabet.

Georgia is a country of poetry. The country has been steeped in poetry during bad or good times. Poetry has always been regarded as the main virtue of people and something of a high standard. That’s why some of the kings are appreciated not only for their achievements but also for their poetry.

The oldest literary work dates back to the 5th century and it is taught at schools with the language it was written then. The work includes various themes such as a man, a woman, love, loyalty, politics, the god, belief and a lot of other things.
