Japanese Master of Wine representing Georgian wine to the world
Within the framework of exhibition called Georgia – Homeland of Wine held in Tokyo, the only master of wine in Japane Kenichi Ohashi held a presentation about Georgian wine for the Japanese wine experts. Around 120 guests attended the event, including local experts of wine, members of the Japanese Sommelier Association, representatives of restaurant and trading nets. The event lasted for about 3 hours - Kenichi Ohashi introduced to them the Georgian wine culture and Georgian wine.

Kenichi Ohashi told the
guests that the Georgian Qvevri is designated by the UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, the Georgians started to make wine 8000 years ago and that the Georgian wine making method is unique.

Master of Wine Kenichi Ohashi emphasized the variety of the Georgian vine species. As he mentioned, taste features and uniqueness of Georgian wine is caused exactly by this variety.

“Georgia is indeed the first wine producer country”, Kenichi Ohashi said, “And therefore deserves respect. The variety of vine species is very interesting. All these is new for us and I want you to know more about Georgian wine. This is the oldest historic knowledge, completely new for us”.

Kenichi Ohashi is the only Master of Wine in Japan. He leads Red Bridge, company that has signed a contract with the National Wine Agency of Georgia. Red Bridge has been carrying out marketing and advertising campaign about Georgian wine in Japan since 2017.

During the event the guests could taste following types of Georgian wine: Chateau Mukhrani, Tbilvino, Teleda/Orgo, Teliani Valley, Stori, Vaziani Winery, Dugladze wines & spirits, Telavi Wine Cellar, Shumi Winery and Sesiashvili Cellar.

Project Georgia – Homeland of Wine, organized by National Wine Agency of Georgia and Georgian Wine Association, is carried out in partnership with one of the largest company in the world Sony music communication and TOPPAN Company.

Exposition for the exhibition unites unique archaeological showpieces and modern technologies. The conception represents uniqueness of the Georgian wine.
