Conference dedicated to the State Language held in Georgia
"On the 31st of May, in Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, a conference "State Language for Integration and Development of Human Capital in Georgia" was held."

On the 31st of May, in Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, Administration of the President of Georgia, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and LEPL Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration organized a conference "State Language for Integration and Development of Human Capital
in Georgia". It was opened by the President of Georgia - Salome Zourabichvili.

After the president, audience was greeted by state minister Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Chairperson of Education, Science and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia - Mariam Jashi, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Irina Abuladze, Head of LEPL State Agency for Religious issues - Zaza Vashakmadze.

A quadripartite memorandum of cooperation was signed during the conference, which aims to carry out educational and informative projects to popularize state language in national minorities. The memorandum was signed by LEPL Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration, Office of the State Minister of Georgia For Reconciliation and Civic Equality, State Language Department and National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

“We managed to gather many important figures in this field and hold a joint discussion about the challenges that the state language faces at the moment. After today’s meeting, certain plans were made which includes on one hand, cooperating with other institutions, and, on the other hand, changes in the framework of the school itself. All of these, ultimately, serves the goal of further development of state language programs.” – says the director of Zurab Zhvania School, Ketevan Jakeli.

Signing of Memorandum

The conference included two discussion panels. In these panels, the importance of state language in civic integration, the strategy of state institutions for teaching the state language to national minorities were the topics of discussion.

Session I - "State Language - Instrument of Civic Integration"

The main speakers of the panel were: Director of LEPL Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration - Ketevan Jakeli, Deputy Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality - Lia Gigauri, Chairperson of Education, Science and Culture Committee of the Parliament of Georgia - Mariam Jashi, Deputy Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Irina Abuladze, Head of State Language Department - Giorgi Alibegashvili.

Session II - " Language and Society"

The main speakers of the panel were: " Director of LEPL Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration - Ketevan Jakeli, Head of Vocational Education Development Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia- Irine Tserodze, representatives of national minorities, Psychologist - Natia Panjikidze, Director of National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, Writer - Giorgi Kekelidze.
