New virus is to strengthen our faith, says Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia

"A new virus has emerged and many people are scared of this virus. Some have called it the "deadly virus." All this is to strengthen our faith, to strengthen our prayer" - His Holiness Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, prayed Sunday sermon at the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The patriarch gave blessings to his parishioners to spray holy water to their children every morning and evening.

"We are still praying for peace and mercy from God today. A new virus has
emerged and many people are scared of this virus. Some have called it the "deadly virus. " It is all about strengthening our faith, strengthening our prayers. I give you my blessings to spray holy water at your children, at your house and everything around you. May God be your protector.”
What needs to be mentioned is that during the Angelus, on the first Sunday of the Word of God, His Holiness Pope Francis also prayed for the victims of the coronavirus out-breaking China and around the world.

“I would like to be close to and pray for the people affected by the virus, which has spread through China. May the Lord welcome the deceased and into his peace. May he comfort their families and sustain the great work of the Chinese community already acting to combat the epidemic”
