Free Fall at CCA-Tbilisi
03 November, 2011

First day of the annual contemporary art exhibition ARTISTERIUM IV | Free Fall takes place at CCA-Tbilisi, where artists from Switzerland will present their works.

Voyagers-concept text written by Frances Belser, 2011and Handwriting by  Ehfa Hiltbrunner, 2011.

The work is interactive. It embodies the ways of communication between strangers, through bodily experience – like touching each other, talking with each other, helping each other, having different perception of one’s body in the exhibition space through the influence of a written text.

Everybody is

important - therefore the red carpet is provided.

Frances Belser, born in 1960, lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.

Ehfa Hiltbrunner, born in 1967, lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.

Temperatures – an experimental approach to a spatial narrative by Franziska Koch in collaboration with Monika Schori, 2011.

The installation relates videos, sounds and different materials within the exhibition space, with a construction in the range on the forecourt.

Several film sequences served as a starting point for the work of Temperatures. They have been developed in collaboration with Monika Schori prior to the exhibition. For the content of these films, by planning and handcrafting, Schori processes a basic stock of construction materials on the environment around the exhibition space. In procedural interaction with the film camera, she built shapes and designs, reassembled them, mounted and dismounted. Three of these elements, a bench, a balafon and a construction remaining of a scaffolding stay as a memento of the film set in and in front of the exhibition room.

In the installation, on the basis of these film sequences, Koch elaborated a spatial “de-montage“ of the linear film editing. In a fragmented space setting, the production and post- production facilities such as the film script, the soundtrack, voiceovers, subtitles or the actual physical form of the presentation and their elements are spread out and literally overdrawn. The cinematic re-reading and narrative interpretation of the actions add up to a non-linear field, in which interior and exterior spaces are punctually touching and synchronically linking each other.
