Opening of New ‘Chateau Eniseli’ Hotel
24 November, 2011

Hotel ‘Chateau Eniseli’ was officially inaugurated last October. This little hotel is located in Kakheti, the wine region of Georgia. The hotel is sited between Eniseli and Sabue villages. It is 2 km away from Gremi, the Church of the Archangels, lying in the ravine of the Cheleti and Intsoba Rivers, facing the Caucasus Mountains. The opening was attended by the guests who had the opportunity to participate in ‘Rtveli’ and taste local wine.

‘Chateau Eniseli’ was built on the territory

of wine plant ‘Eniseli-Bagrationi’.‘Eniseli-Bagrationi’ Company (www.eniselibagrati-oni.ge) has been functioning since 2003 on the basis of the wine cellar set up by a famous Georgian wine-maker and public figure Zakaria Jorjadze in 1887 and Eniseli winery, established later. The founder and the owner of the Company is the descendant of Zakaria Jorjadze. Today the Company processes various sorts of grapes - Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Saperavi, which grow in the local micro-zone (Eniseli, Shilda, Gremi). Offering 2 triple rooms and 4 double rooms, the hotel is multifunctional and intends to host mainly wine tours as well as conferences, trainings, private, corporate and cultural events. All rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, LCD TV, satellite channels, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi access.

You can order your meals at the restaurant of Georgian national cuisine (that employs bio products) and park your car in the parking lot. Fishing in the pond on the hotel territory is also allowed along with taking a ride in the carriage.

The premises of the hotel has a long history. Here in the centuries-long surroundings, you can get familiar with the most important milestone in the history of Georgian wine making, which was started in the 19th century by Zakaria Jorjadze, a nobleman and an entrepreneur, a true reformer of wine-making in Georgia. His estate was considered to be one of the most important social centers of the country. He was the pioneer in introducing European technology of wine-making in Georgia. In 1888, the Georgian wine exported by “Z. Jorjadze and Company” received a gold medal at the International Agricultural Exhibition in Brussels.

You can plan your tour in Z. Jorjadze’s residential mension built in 1887, which represents a monument of cultural heritage and get acquainted with his private archive, substantial part of which is made up of photo albums featuring portraits or group photos of historical and outstanding public figures, representatives of aristocracy, taken by amateur and professional photographers (A. Roinashvili, D. Ermakov, E. Vestle, E. Klar, A. German, G. Philipovich, O. de Karva, etc.) It will enable you to follow the chronology of development of photography in Georgia. Due to its artistic and historical value, the archive represents a true cultural heritage of our country.

You can tour the following sites at the premises:

• A wine cellar built at the end of the 19th century with 120 oldest unique clay and oak tanks to be found on the territory of Eniseli-Bagrationi winery. You can taste a wide range of products by JSC “Eniseli-Bagrationi” (Georgian brandy, sparkling wine, wine and grape vodka “chacha”).

• Take part in the process of entire cycle of the production of alcohol beverages: harvesting and pressing grapes, preparation of brandy and wine with traditional technology in oldest and unique clay vessels buried in the ground (‘kvevri’).
