The indie Omar Sounds Like: Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Mars Volta, The Jimi Hendrix Experience Official Page, Tom Waits.
Omar Torrez’s music is equal parts post-modern rock, Mexican and Cuban Son and gutbucket blues.
First gaining notoriety at the Jimi Hendrix Guitar competition at the Bumbershoot Festival, Torrez has shared the stage with Buena Vista Social Club, Susana Baca, Sidestepper, Jethro Tull, Tony Levin and Bill

Laswell. He was Tom Wait’s guitarist in his most recent Glitter and Doom world tour.
Torrez has gained fans worldwide through international festivals and humanitarian work. As a Fulbright Scholarship recipient, the artist performed to the benefit of children displaced by the conflict between the Republic of Georgia and the Russian Federation. Torrez was also awarded a 2010 grant from CONACULTA (the Ministry of Culture and Education in Mexico), in which he curated and produced the record entitled Entre Mundos, a collaboration between La Banda Sinfonica Mixteca and international musicians, using music to tear down cultural barriers.
The artist has played at prestigious festivals like: Bumbershoot, The San Francisco International Film Festival, Festival Cervantino and Dia De Los Muertos in Mexico, The Waiting for Waits Festival in Spain, The Steppenwolf Awards, Island of Light and Dvizhenie in Russia. Omar’s music was featured in Warren Miller’s “Impact” and on television shows such as NBC’s “Heroes,” “Whoopie,” “Felicity” and “Grosse Pointe.”
Torrez’s fans recently helped raise a large sum of money to fund the latest record, A Night Of Serious Drinking. The record is produced by Tony Berg (Michael Penn, Aimee Mann, Bob Dylan, Pink, Public Image Ltd.), Matt Chamberlain - drums and Cuban legend Carlos Del Puerto Jr. - upright bass, and is destined for great things.
