Chirukhi – How a simple passion turned into a grand adventure
This is a story of Polish tourusts’ unforgettable visit to mountainous Chirukhi, Georgia. Here is how one of them recalls this adventure :

“It started as usual - lacking a specific plan. Lack of a plan motivates to create one and in this case, we decided to follow a photo of wooden houses in the mountains. I saw it on the internet once and decided that I would like to see this place with my own eyes.

So, on a Monday
afternoon, we found ourselves riding in a minibus from Batumi to Shuakhevi, because this name, which was attached in a description of the picture on my phone, was our one and only guide. When we arrived in this village and presented the photo to a taxi driver he offered us a ride in his delightfully nightmarish Lada Niva. After 30 km and an hour long terrifying ride (and trust me - I've seen a lot), he confirmed my suspicions; he had no idea where he was going.

We could not blame him because we were in the exactly same situation, bravely wielding in our hands a discharged phone with a beautiful photo on it. After nightfall, in the first village that had at least three houses, we decided to evacuate the Russian capsule of death and ask locals for directions to the mythical wooden land. One of the locals glanced at my phone and was left agape, completely dumbfounded. After the daze wore off, he said "This is my home and my car. How did you get this photo?"

Watching the sincere smile, with which he began showing the picture to his companions, I realized that we had hit the jackpot. We made him king of the moment - a group of Polish tourists went into the Ajarian mountains to find his house. Without delay, he invited us to eat, drink and relax, because at the moment it was impossible to reach that village due to heavy snowfall. We agreed to his proposal and soon met his family (including the beautiful Mariam from the photo published a few days ago), gathered around the stove, were treated to wonderful Ajarian delicacies, drank, sang and even danced for a bit.

The next day I finally saw the cottages from picture – but if not for this story, the cottages would probably just remain ordinary houses. A story about how we, without having any idea where we were going, ended up exactly where we wanted to be.”
