Abkhazia’s latest images - Abandoned buildings and surreal nature
Fascinating and, at the same time, sad photos of Abkhazia, Georgia’s beautiful breakaway region in the northwestern part of the country, at the Black Sea coast, have gone viral on the internet. As the person who collected all these beautiful and heartbreaking photos says, these are the latest images taken over the recent years by tourists. According to him, he gathered photos time by time from them. “These pictures are from Abkhazia, occupied part of Georgia (by Russia) depict
ing life in the region after war along with its surreal nature. When I talk to the Abkhaz people, I try to envisage how they live and what the place looks like at present. Please, share these images with one another and don’t forget that we have common past and mistakes”, - Dato Nadiradze, publisher of these photos says.

As a reminder, 23 years have passed since the war in Abkhazia. The cruel war ended on September 27, 1993, by falling of Sokhumi, the capital of Abkhazia. Since then up to present Abkhazia remains Georgia’s breakaway region. Even though the images feature ruined and abandoned buildings covered in moss and dust, yet the nature is still picturesque.
