Winter wonderland – Georgia’s frozen Dashbashi Canyon
Georgia’s Dashbashi Canyon transforms into a real miracle in winter time. In summer the place looks like an oasis in the middle of the desert, while in winter the waterfalls freeze and turn into icy wonder. Dashbashi Canyon is situated in Georgia’s Tsalka region, 1100-1500 meters above sea level, in Khrami river gorge. Ecosystems around the canyon are quite poor in plants but the steep slopes inside the canyon, on the contrary, create a micro l
andscape with its fervent waterfalls and fauna. The length of the canyon is 8 kilometers, with moderately humid climate and the annual temperature range is quite high. In January, the average temperature here is -4 -6 and in June -+16 +18. Dashbashi Canyon stands out for its natural diversity and beautiful landscapes, which can be seen on these photos. On the slopes of the canyon there are numerous waterfalls and natural as well as man-made caves.

The easiest way to get to the site is from the city of Tsalka , Georgia's Kvemo (lower) Kartli region. It is the closet inhabited place from the location. Tsalka is 88 kilometers away from Tbilisi, on 1,4 hour ride. The distance between the Tsalka and Dashbashi village is 3,8 kilometers and requires only 15 minutes to get there. The Canyon itself is located 0,5 kilometers of the village and one can get there in 10 minutes. If you plan to stay for a night, the most optimal way is to spend night at local hotel in Tsalka.
