Kazbegi among 100 trips everyone should take in their lifetime
"Business Insider", a well-known American news website, named Kazbegi Mountains among the 100 places where you have to travel at least once in your life. "Business Insider" asked 20 best travelers, bloggers and writers of the world to name a place that everyone should see.

"This small town in the Caucasus Mountains is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Tbilisi locals go in
the summer months to camp among wild horses on the lush carpet of the mountains, with vertiginous views of waterfalls and towering peaks." - that’s how the editor of Suitcase Magazine India Dowley speaks about Kazbegi.

Kazbegi, situated in the north of Georgia, is home to Mount Kazbegi (or Mkinvartsveri in the local language) which is the third highest mountain in the country. The beating heart of the region is the village Stepantsminda (formerly known as Kazbegi).

Stepantsminda was named after a Georgian Orthodox monk named Stephan, who constructed a hermitage at this location on what later became the Georgian Military Road.

Kazbegi is known for its scenic location in the Greater Caucasus mountains. It is a great place for outdoor activities such as ice climbing, mountaineering, horse riding, paragliding and bike riding; photographers will also find this region quite interesting because of its unique nature and unconditional beauty. It is known for its glaciers, natural mineral waters and the historical marvels like the ancient Gergeti Trinity Church, built in the 14th century. From the church you get a great view of the Kuro mountains, one of Georgia’s most magnificent mountain ranges.

Local attractions include the Kazbegi Museum of Ethnography and the Gergeti Trinity Church outside of town, as well as Mount Kazbegi itself and the alpine meadows and forests of the surrounding Kazbegi Nature Reserve.
