Ski season opens in Georgia’s winter resorts

Skiing enthusiasts, extremists and lovers of snowy mountains will be excited to hear that the new winter season has already started in Georgia. The winter season in Georgia has officially opened in Georgia’s winter resorts of Gudauri, Bakuriani, Svaneti and Goderdzi.

On December 10, Georgia’s one of the most popular winter resorts of Gudauri and Goderdzi officially started operating.

It is noteworthy that an artificial snow system now available at the resort enables Gudauri to be independent from natural
climate conditions and start the long awaited skiing season on a fixed date every year.

In Goderdzi ski resort, located on the slopes of the mountainous Adjara Region, 2 new small size ropeways including the kids play area are awaiting their holidaymakers this year.

The snow season was opened in Didveli on December 12. As for Kokhta-Mitarbi areas of Bakuriani, here the season will open on December 23.

From December 17, two new winter resorts located in Georgia’s historical Svaneti Region - Hatsvali and Tetnuldi will welcome guests and gift them an unforgettable holidays.

Another pleasant news is that the new ropeway connecting Mestia-Hatsvali will open on December 23.

The construction of the ropeway connecting Mestia (highland townlet in northwest Georgia, Svaneti Region) and Hatsvali (modern ski resort in Svaneti), started in summer 2017. The length of the cableway is 1200 meters. It is the product of world’s leading manufacturer Doppelmayr.

The opening of the new cableway is very important fact for the winter sports enthusiasts, as long as it connects the center of Svaneti and mountain with each other.

In recent years, Georgia shows a great progress in terms of winter recreation. According to the authorities, all ski resorts of Georgia are waiting guests with new facilities and the process of infrastructural development will continue in the future as well.
