Georgian National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and sustainable development of Georgia is starting a large scale promotion campaign of Georgia’s touristic potential in cooperation with world’s leading travel and science magazine National Geographic.

The details about the Georgia’s cooperation with world’s largest travel magazine were announced at the press conference held on May 1 by the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Dimitri Kumsishvili
and the Vice President of National Geographic Annabelle Kanvel.

The conference was also attended by the Travel Partnerships Director of National Geographic, Nitu Kamboj.

New marketing campaign at National Geographic is aimed at the popularizing and promoting Georgia’s upcoming summer and autumn tourist seasons and showcasing the tourist potential of the country throughout the world.

The internet campaign will last from May 14 until October 14. The total cost of the campaign is 250 000 euros.

The internet campaign covers the countries of Europe and the Middle East and the amount of expected impressions might be 4,541,183.

The planned internet campaign will include 5 stories on National Geographic website, 5 multimedia blogs, online banners and pre-roll advertisement on National Geographic’s Facebook page.

The material will be released by the special guide called Georgia Travel Guide. Moreover, online banners will be placed in the sections of History, Adventure and Travel of Nationalgeographic.com, while the posts will be published on the Facebook page of National Geographic.

As a reminder, National Geographic has recently explored Georgia’s ex-Soviet spa resorts, which used to be the main balneological resorts during Soviet times and attracted many locals and tourists. According to the journalist of the famous travel magazine, abandoned spa resorts look quite depressive nowadays. However, the one can still feel the Soviet pride in them.

“I had never seen a place like Svaneti. It was very cut off from the world – a one-lane dirt road and no guidebooks. And I arrived during the changing of the seasons in October. There were beautiful colors, beautiful women, great food, dancing, singing, and mountains like I have seen nowhere else in the world. It is different now, lots of tourists and new buildings, but the music is still there. The soul is still there,” this is how he recalls his first visit to the country’s historic highland.
