Tbilvino Khvanchkara - Winner of the project "10 Wines You Must Try Until You Die"
15 October, 2015
Count Dimitri Kipiani started to produce Kvanchkara wine in the 80-ies of the XIX century. At that time this type of wine was called Kipiani Wine after its producer. The wine received Grand Prix Gold at European wine festival held in the city of Ostend, Belgium, in 1907. After the establishment of the Soviet Union the Georgian count’s name was removed and the Communists named the wine after the village where Dimitri Kipiani used to produce it.
