Georgian Vine Species will be planted on Mars
The news that spread throughout the internet may seem a joke to most readers but it turns out to be true. “NASA” astronauts have successfully cultivated some of the plants on Mars. It has paved the way for other species to be planted as well. Georgian vine species could be the next. geotv.ge

Georgia has unique opportunities to succeed in terms of growing vine species on Mars since ancient vine cultivation is familiar to the
country. Georgia grows up to 500 local vine species. Among them are: Saferavi, Rqatsiteli, Afkhazura, Tsitsqa, Aleqsandrouli, etc.

It may seem unworkable plan for the near future but it is said that a working group particularly for this project have already been created. The group involves representatives of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Business and Technology University in Georgia, Georgian National Museum, Microsoft and Spacefarms (a multidisciplinary design and front-end shop focused on digital products, design systems and branding).

The first Urban Vertical Greenhouse–Laboratory in the region is planned to be built in the Hotel “Stamba” in Georgia. It is going to be operated by Spacefarms. The laboratory, which envisions cultivation and research of vine species, will start operating in September. The process will be monitored by Business and Technology University, HP technical support and the European Space Agency. HP laboratory in the Business and Technology University has been functioning for almost a year and it will be available to experts for working on the project.

Vine is an indispensable part of Georgia’s culture and history. Therefore, the project will link the country’s history to its modern reality. The country has an incredible chance to get involved in such projects and carry out researches on vines. We hope to see vines from different parts of Georgia on Mars.
