The number of foreign visitors in Batumi has risen by 28 percent
Among touristy places in Georgia Batumi is still very popular. Georgian Journal got interested which sites tourists should visit in Batumi. Tinatin Zoidze, Director of Tourism Products Development Agency of Adjarian Tourism Department speaks about the issue.

As she says, this summer tourist season has started much earlier in Batumi. According to data of first five months of 2018, number of foreign visitors in Batumi has increased by 28 percent compared to last year and equals up to 497 000 visits.
There is 98 percent increase in visitors of high-mountainous Adjara region compared to the same period of time.

It is possible to get to Batumi from Tbilisi by car or by plane, according to Google maps

“We want to make it easier for tourists to get around Batumi and nearby places. The beauty of Adjara and Batumi in particular is that mountains and the sea are located near each other. We can offer to tourists variety of new routes. Tourists can get to any point of high-mountainous Adjara region in three and a half hours. They can visit very interesting places just in a day” – says Tinatin.

For those who are interested in cultural tours, we offer to visit Machakhela Valley, in direction of Skhalta and Khikhani. For visitors interested in rural tourism, we offer to visit villages Merisi, Nigazeuli, Gobroneti, Sakhalvasho and Chaisubani. Those who want to know more about Georgian wine and wine tourism should definitely visit following villages of Keda Municipality: Vaio, Dandalo and others. Eco-tourism routes are also popular. They include Mtirlala, Kintrishi and Machakhela National Parks. Bike tours are available on Mirveti and Charnali territories.

Tinatin says that Adjara is ready to receive increased number of tourists. On the majority of routes they have already put indication marks, the number of family hotels has risen, road infrastructure is in a better condition as well. Folklore and local cuisine plays important role. Even natives try to make performances or small shows for tourists. Local entrepreneurs’ motivation has risen and they try to offer new products to visitors.

Tinatin says, that those who are interested to stay for several days in high-mountainous Adjara region, they should visit Chikhura, Khikhani and Goderdzi villages. Also Tkibeli Lake in Kobuleti. Tourists can stay in these places for two or three days. Those who are interested in adventures will definitely have fun.
