The Georgian Shepherds are aboriginal species. They have a very exotic and beautiful exterior appearance and are known to be
fearless, brave and strong. Due to their exotic qualities the shepherds are very popular in Georgia. They chase the wolves until the boundary line, knowing that after the boarder it’s up to other dogs to do the job. This is their combat strategy. They’re known to be the best guards of a territory as well as very responsible. According to a well-known expert, in order to genetically analyze the breed the expenses of the research and the donor will cost around 10 thousand Euros. They are characterized as loyal, brave, strong, and most importantly extremely clever.

The appearance of a Georgian shepherd is mostly covered in thick double coat of fur. It can be any color such as black, grey, tan or white etc. Their life span is approximately 11 to 12 years. To care for a Georgian Shepherd it must be exercised daily or on a regular basis by taking it out for a walk or having a play time. They’re not house dogs, so they do not get well-adjusted to apartments and small spaces, they’d much rather prefer houses with big yards where they can run around freely.

As for keeping them as pets, they’re not highly recommended for first time dog owners; however, as they’re known to be guard dogs, they come in handy while guarding a property.
