Why to visit Borjomi this summer
The famous mineral spring water “Borjomi” which is sold in over 30 countries worldwide actually originates from the Georgian city-resort of Borjomi. However, apart from the famous mineral water there are so many other reasons to visit Borjomi this summer. In today’s article Georgian Journal offers you a list of reasons to travel to Borjomi.

With the summer heat surrounding the streets of Tbilisi is it any wonder that most people would like
to get away somewhere outside of the city to cool down for a bit. Well if that’s the case for you then Borjomi may be exactly what you’ve been searching for.

The Borjomi mineral water park is a very popular attraction with tourists who visit Borjomi. This is the place where the “famous” mineral water was first produced. While there you can bring your own bottles and fill them up with the mineral water which is known to be good for health. Children are also bound to have a good time, since the park also offers a variety of attractions and amusements for them to enjoy.

If you wish to stay overnight or for a few days ,there is plenty of high quality accommodation available such as the prestigious “Crowne Plaza Hotel“ which is conveniently located in the heart of the city near the mineral park. It’s a relaxing hotel that offers “contemporary interior design rooms with a hint of nostalgia”, terrace with a café, restaurants, a wine bar and a luxurious spa that offers swimming pool and sauna as well as other health care options.

However, cheaper options are also available as well as renting your own apartment..

Whilst in Borjomi, you can also visit the Romanoffs’ Palace which dates back to the 19th century and was built during the reign of Tsar Nicolas II of Russia. The palace has many historically significant monuments that you’re bound to find fascinating.

The Blue Palace “Firuza” is also a great destination which was built at the entrance of the Mineral Water Park in 1892 by the Consul of Iran. To this day the palace is considered a unique cultural monument. The building is a combination of Persian, Georgian and European styles .

However, if you don’t find museums that particularly interesting you can always visit the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park where you can go horseback riding, hiking, biking, take a variety of tours and try out a lot of other outdoor activities. The spot is also perfect for a picnic.

Another thing that you can try whist in Borjomi is a train ride to Bakuriani. The railway between Borjomi and Bakuriani is more than 150 years old having been built by the Russian royal family. You can hop on the train and travel to Bakuriani for a a very reasonable charge. On the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and view of the Caucasus Mountains.
